Goldman to oversee the agency’s fastest growing global office

SAN FRANCISCO (June 16, 2022) – Interpublic Group (NYSE: IPG) agency Golin announced today the appointment of Jim Goldman as managing director, San Francisco, to lead the agency’s Bay Area operations. Goldman started on June 1 and reports to Gary Rudnick, president and chief operating officer.

Goldman will oversee the agency’s fastest growing global market which experienced an impressive 100 percent revenue uptick last year, adding clients like Gabb Wireless, LinkedIn and Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. to its roster. In addition to client growth, the staff also grew by 115 percent over the past year, with additions to earned media, digital strategy, content creation and brand development. Golin’s San Francisco market is fast becoming one of the keys to the global technology practice’s success, which features a roster of blue chip technology accounts including Adobe, Cisco, Micron, Nintendo, Texas Instruments and Verizon, to name a few.

“Jim brings a deep mix of technology and media expertise, plus an impressive leadership style that will carry forward the strong momentum for the market,” said Rudnick. “His collaborative approach to building business will help us create the best work of our lives and allow our Bay Area operation to build upon its impressive growth trajectory.”

Goldman joins the agency after nearly a decade at Zeno Group where he most recently served as executive vice president, focused on C-suite narratives, earned media strategy and crisis communications working across the entire Zeno global network. He was also an instrumental leader on key engagements, including Amazon, CrowdStrike, Invisalign-maker Align, Lenovo, Micron, Salesforce and Zoom. Prior to Zeno Group, Goldman spent several years at Burson-Marsteller as chairman of the U.S. technology practice and managing director of global media. He also previously held senior technology media roles at CNBC, TechTV and ABC News.

“I’m thrilled to join Golin’s strong local team and build on the solid foundation of growth, exceptional client service and tremendous technology and consumer expertise we have in this market,” said Goldman. “Technology and innovation in everything from B2B to consumer or healthcare and medical devices continue to generate enormous interest from media, investors and employees. Our job is to help our clients tell meaningful stories that achieve their business objectives, and I’m excited to lead this team and leverage the entire Golin network to deepen our strategic position as the technology communications expert.”

Golin’s San Francisco market has been a pioneer for innovation over the years, most recently piloting a fully remote work model back in 2020 to widen its geographic footprint. The pilot, which includes all of Golin’s Western Region, allows staff to be closer to clients and removes boundaries for talent so that specialists can be hired based on skillsets and expertise instead of geographic location. Several other Golin markets have since adopted aspects of the model to appoint talent in locations away from their offices and better serve client needs.
