LOS ANGELES (October 4, 2022) – Interpublic Group (NYSE: IPG) agency Golin announced today the appointment of Pam Fujimoto as executive creative director (ECD) in its Los Angeles (LA) office. Fujimoto will lead the creative team in LA and work closely with both the U.S. and global creative leadership to integrate social media and digital ideas into creative output for the agency’s top clients. She started in early September and reports to Deanne Yamamoto, managing director of Golin LA with a dotted line reporting structure to George Bryant, global chief creative officer.
Fujimoto brings over two decades of creative excellence, social and digital prowess and DEI leadership to this role having developed award-winning campaigns and internal programming for brands like Twitter and eBay. In her role as ECD for Golin LA, she will infuse her culture-forward approach into the market’s next generation creative offering, oversee conceptual creative for some of Golin’s top clients and elevate LA’s content and video production studio that services the entire agency network.
“I’m excited to join Golin at a time when earned-first ideas have never been more important to brands,” said Fujimoto. “I’ve always loved looking at creative through the lens of culture, and Golin is a leader in crafting campaigns that capture its audiences. I’m looking forward to collaborating and learning from teams across the network, and tapping into some of the unique skillsets and resources that bring a more agile approach to how we do that.”
As part of her initial remit, Fujimoto will onboard into the agency’s top client roster, overseeing creative innovation for West Coast accounts in retail, technology and gaming sectors, to name a few. She will collaborate with Golin’s senior most creative leadership bench on some of the agency’s other legacy client work for Adobe, McDonald’s and Walmart as well. In addition to client work Fujimoto will be a member of the LA senior leadership team, delivering against growth goals in its target practices and sector specialties.
“Pam is a modern creative who brings a forward-thinking approach to leadership,” said Bryant. “Not only does she know how to stay connected to brands in today’s evolving landscape to keep ideas cutting edge and digitally relevant, but she leads with a culture-first style that captures the respect of her teams and the trust of her clients. She’s an exceptional leader, and we are honored to welcome her to our growing all-star creative team.”
“Pam’s diverse career and lived experience in social and digital, and her passion for youth culture is a powerful addition to the DNA of our region,” said Yamamoto.
Prior to joining Golin, Fujimoto was group creative director at The Many, where she led multiple teams and the creative output across culture-forward accounts. She was a co-lead on Twitter’s global business marketing and a creative leader for DEI/ERG work, in addition to being a member of the senior leadership team for Twitter’s internal agency. During her time as ECD at Wongdoody, Fujimoto developed the Wongtern internship program, launched the Women in Advertising scholarship and helped the agency win Ad Age’s Small Agency of the Year award – twice. She also co-founded the consultancy, June Cleaver is Dead, which explores how marketers can better understand and connect with moms today, and the practice was recognized with an Honorable Mention in Fast Company’s 2019 World Changing Ideas program.
