Veteran Communications Leader to Drive Innovation and Growth for Golin’s Tech Clients.
SAN FRANCISCO (September 12, 2024) – Interpublic Group (NYSE: IPG) agency Golin announced today the appointment of John Derryberry as Executive Vice President and West Coast Technology Practice Leader. Based in San Francisco, Derryberry will be responsible for growing Golin’s technology business, fostering specialty talent and deepening the agency’s leadership bench on the West Coast. He reports to Dawn Langeland, Co-President, North America.
Derryberry brings more than 25 years of experience as a communications leader, team builder, corporate narrative advisor and media strategist working with top technology brands. Most recently he led the U.S. technology practice at Hill + Knowlton, where he reinvigorated the agency’s San Francisco office and expanded the firm’s U.S. tech roster, winning briefs from brands such as Actian, Amazon, Coveo, Expedia, FreedomPay, Lam Research, Manhattan Associates, Meta, OpenText and Shutterstock. In previous leadership roles at Edelman and at his own agency acquired by Edelman in 2006, John led the agency team for Adobe through its pivotal Creative Cloud launch, repositioning the brand as a global champion of creativity and winning a Gold Lion at Cannes. He has also advised clients such as Autonomy, Bosch, C3.ai, and the Unicode Consortium, governing body of emoji.

In his new role, Derryberry will oversee Golin’s tech practice in the region and serve as a senior advisor across its client roster, which includes notable clients like Adobe, Grubhub, Logitech, and Verizon Business Group. He also will enhance the agency’s cross-disciplinary offer for tech brands, build greater industry recognition for Golin’s tech industry expertise and collaborate across the network to identify organic and new growth opportunities, as well as contribute to agency IP and innovations.
